Monday/Tuesday: Homework: Start gathering your “stuff” for your film. Wednesday/Thursday: Homework: Complete the exercises for Vocabulary G—lesson 7.
Friday: Continue to prepare for your Monday/Tuesday: Portfolio due.
Wednesday/Friday: Make sure that you read the article entitled "'Medea' and the Problem of Spiritedness," by Aristide Tessitore. It can be found in JSTOR: http://www.jstor.org/stable/1407307. There is likely to be a reading quiz on Monday/Tuesday. Homework for Monday/Tuesday (due Wednesday/Thursday): None, unless you want to get a head start on the vocabulary test that will take place on November 3rd or 4th.
Homework for Wednesday/Thursday: Review unit for chapters 4-6 (plus classical roots) in your vocabulary books. I will also provide a rubric for your portfolio--that will be due on Monday/Tuesday (November Homework for Friday/Weekend: Study for your vocabulary test on November 3/4 (Wednesday and Thursday). Prepare your portfolios (requirements will be addressed by Wednesday, October 27th) to turn in on Monday/Tuesday. No homework for this weekend. Leave your white textbooks at school. Remember: Homework is completed on the day/night mentioned. It is due the next time that we meet, unless otherwise designated.
Monday/Tuesday (due Wednesday/Thursday): You will complete the essay started in class. If hand-written, you must use blue or black ink and double space. If typed, it also needs to be double-spaced and limit yourself to fonts like Arial or Times New Roman. If hand-written, it should probably be about two pages. Keep your quotes brief and integrate them into your sentences when possible. Make sure that the following is at the right-top of your page: Your name, class period. You should also write "The Dead" Essay and today's date. It will be due at the beginning of class on Wednesday/Thursday. There will be a chance to revise this essay (for a test grade), but I will have to first give you feedback. Wednesday/Thursday (due Friday): Complete chapter six in your vocabulary books. Remember what this means: Next week the review unit will be due, which also means that the following week (Wednesday/Thursday) there will be a vocabulary test. Friday (due Monday/Tuesday): Take your Literature & Composition books home. Read the background information on Helena Maria Viramontes. Read her short story, "The Moths" (272-277). Answer the questions (in writing) on p. 277. Also, read the interview with the author on pp. 278-280. In writing, answer the follow-up questions on page 280. This is your new blog post.
